Chiropractors are Doctors that specialize in the health, function and alignment of your spine. This is accomplished by providing gentle specific chiropractic “adjustments” or “manipulations” to vertebra of the spine. In addition to adjustments of the vertebra, Chiropractors are concerned with posture, biomechanics and correcting and maintaining proper spinal curvatures. Spinal health is important not only in treating and preventing back and neck problems but also in correcting “vertebral subluxations”.  A vertebral subluxation is a condition in which vertebra are “misaligned” or “stuck” and interferes with the transmission of nerve signals travelling to and from the brain over spinal nerves. This condition may or may not cause pain, but often decreases the quality of nerve signals to and from your cells, tissues and organs. This decrease in quality of nerve signal (spinal nerve stress) will decrease the quality of health to whichever cell, tissue and organ that it supplies. This causes dysfunction until eventually the body exhibits symptoms. This can result in a variety of different health conditions including: headaches, numbness and tingling, high blood pressure, just to name a few. The fact that a person does not have symptoms yet does not mean that person is healthy! The goal of Chiropractic is to improve the quality and function of your entire body by reducing spinal nerve stress. A person’s symptoms and response to treatment vary according to the location of, severity of and length of time the person has the vertebral subluxations.
